Evangelical Free Church Of China* has a long history in Hong Kong. As early as 1887 its missionary work in Guangzhou was started by an American trail-blazing preacher Rev. Von Qualen.
Later, in 1937, the organisation laid the cornerstone of its Hong Kong missionary operations. Located in Prince Edward Road, Kowloon, it was our first mission premises in Hong Kong, the forerunner of today’s Tin Chuen Church. Subsequently and successively, it established the churches, an orphanage called Children’s Home, and founded a children’s magazine known as ‘CHILDREN’S FRIEND’. The organisation also has its own hospital, Evangel Hospital, and a centre for the elderly. Beginning 1990, churches of the organisation began to mushroom. By late 2010, the number has reached 52, with regular members exceeding 21,000 strong. *Formerly known as The Association of Evangelical Free Churches of Hong Kong |
